In an exclusive by Deadline, it was revealed that Patrick Wilson has been cast as the half-brother ORM aka The Ocean Master to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.
Patrick Wilson has become known over the years for his roles in the horror genre, specifically James Wan’s The Conjuring. Considering their former partnership together with The Conjuring film, it makes sense that they would be set to work with one another again in James Wan’s Aquaman film. This won’t be Wilson’s first trip into the cinematic comic book realm though. Patrick Wilson portrayed Nite Owl II in the Watchmen film, so he’s not going to be diving into the DC universe completely blind.
Now with regards to the ORM character, if you were craving another sibling rivalry similar to Marvel’s infamous sibling rivals Thor and Loki, you will get something similar now that we are being introduced to the rivalry between Aquaman and ORM in the DC Universe. In the comics ORM is a rival to the throne to Atlantis and, in order to achieve this goal of taking the throne from his half-brother, ORM wrecks utter havoc and chaos across the ocean to prove his dominance and worth.
Patrick Wilson will be joining Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Willem Dafoe in the cast of Aquaman. It will be interesting to see how Wilson and Momoa vibe off of each other as half-siblings going after the throne, but I will admit that it may be difficult to not compare them to the current Thor and Loki .
