If you’ve read Margaret Atwood’s 1984 book The Handmaid’s Tale, you’re probably already having horrible visions of our future, considering the political climate. As a teenager, reading this book about a possible future where religion rules and women are forced into reproductive slavery and domesticity, I never thought it could happen. I’m not so sure anymore. Hulu‘s adaptation of the novel into a 10-episode series seems to be perfectly timed to what’s happening in the world.

Today they’ve released some new photos from the series starring Elizabeth Moss as Offred. In the story, the few women who are still fertile are forced into bearing children for wealthy men. I won’t spoil the horror of how that works, but it’s pretty awful. The show also stars Joseph Fiennes as the Commander to whom Offred is assigned. (Note: Offred=Of Fred, because that’s who her body belongs to now.) Yvonne Strahovski plays the Commander’s wife, a former televangelist who preached about how women should be meek and docile and not work. Now that she’s been forced into that role as well, she’s not super happy about the results of what she’s done. Samira Wiley plays Offred’s friend Moira.

Check out the pics below and begin your freak out now. The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere in April, 201
