Welcome to the Legion!

The holidays are coming…have you found everything on your gift lists (c’mon, we all know there’s one for friends/family and the “treat yo self” list)?

Maybe I can help.

Recently, fellow Legionnaire Anastasia Washington and I took a little trip to The Seven Kingdoms to get a sneaky peek at some behind the scenes action in celebration of the release of Game Of Thrones: The Complete Sixth Season, and boy, did we have a BALL!

The courtyard at the famous Hollywood and Highland Center was filled with interactive experiences based on bonus content included on the Blu-ray/DVD, featuring a giant topographical map of The Seven Kingdoms AND a brand new VR experience where fans could get in battle training at Castle Black.

And of course, Anastasia and I took advantage of said activities:

Vaes Dothrak:  In the feature “Recreating the Dothraki World,” fans get an inside look at the creation of Vaes Dothrak and how it shaped Daenerys’s evolution. At the event, we were each given their own green screen experience/sharable video where we would become our own version of Daenerys in one of the most iconic moments of season 6: burning down the Temple of the Dosh Khaleen to the frickin ground.

I just couldn’t resist trying to cock my eyebrow like Emilia Clarke…but it ended up looking more like The Rock’s “People’s Eyebrow” and less “Mother of Dragons,” haha.

Winterfell: In “The Battle of the Bastards: An In-Depth Look,” fans get to examine the production challenges of creating this epic event, including explorations of Visual Effects, stunts, and interviews with key cast and crew. Modeled after Jon Snow’s command tent, fans can move stone pieces around the battle table as well as getting a pic of themselves as Jon trapped in a sea of soldiers from that incredible top down shot fans will never forget.

Admittedly, I was uber jealous with how epic Anastasia’s turned out!

North Of The Wall: In the feature “Bran’s Journey,” fans are able to look into Bran Stark’s long, strange trip throughout this last season.

At the event, fans were able to pray to the Weirwood tree, “hold the door” to save Bran from the White Walker army, and learn about the Children of The Forest.

Castle Black: For the “Defend the Wall” Virtual Reality Experience, modeled after the Castle Black courtyard and created exclusively for the fan event, fans donned a VR headset in order to handle a virtual crossbow, arrows and shield for target practice and test our battle skills.

I missed a couple targets and handled myself well with a shield, but glad the experience was only a couple of minutes because VR and I are still in the “getting to know you” stages.

And a Game Of Thrones experience wouldn’t be the same without being able to actually plant your butt ON The Iron Throne for a one-of-a-kind picture.

WERK.

Well, I know what’s going on MY “Treat Yo’ Self 2016” list…is it on yours?

Game Of Thrones: The Complete Sixth Season is available now on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD!
