Welcome to the Legion!

Looks like it will be a good couple years for Neil Gaiman fans with American Gods premiering on Starz this April, and now Good Omens sometime next year. Amazon announced today that the author will be adapting his and Terry Pratchet‘s novel Good Omens into a “comedic apocalyptic” miniseries, which is already set to be released on Amazon Prime Video in 2018.

Good Omens tells the story of humanity’s last bumbling steps towards the Apocalypse. An angel named Aziraphale and a demon named Crowley try to sabotage the end of times, having grown accustomed to their surrounds on Earth — specifically England. One subplot features Adam Young, the Antichrist. There’s a mixup at the small country hospital where he was born, and he ends up being raised with the wrong family and in the wrong country village. Another subplot concerns the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse — War, a female war correspondent; Death, who resembles his Discworld counterpart; Famine, a dietician and fast food tycoon; and Pollution, who takes the place of Pestilence (retired after the discovery of penicillin).

Good Omens will be a six-part series on Amazon and BBC. Gaiman will not only write the script, but he will serve as the series’ showrunner as well.
