Welcome to the Legion!

Mute

Today Netflix released a couple of stills from their upcoming science fiction noir film Mute, giving us a first look behind what looks to be a very moody film. My initial impression so far is that, from a visual perspective, the mood feels very similar to Blade Runner. However, looking at the casting of Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux as the comedic relief, the mood may be much lighter than the initial images give off.

Netflix’s Mute is being directed by Duncan Jones, who’s known for his work on Warcraft. Alexander Skarsgard stars as Leo. He will be joined by Paul Rudd, Justin Theroux, and newcomer Seyneb Saleh.

The official synopsis for the series is below:

Set in the near-future,  Leo (Alexander Skarsgard) is a bartender living in the pulsing city of Berlin. Because of a childhood accident, Leo lost the ability to speak and the only good thing in his life is his beautiful girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh). When she vanishes without a trace, Leo’s search for her takes him deep into the city’s seedy underbelly. A pair of wise-cracking American surgeons (Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux) are the only reoccurring  clue and Leo is forced to take on this teeming underworld in order to find his love.

Netflix’s Mute will be released in all territories where Netflix is offered in 2017. A specific release date has not been announced.
