Deadpool Wants To Save Your Life

Despite it being reported last week that Deadpool would be making a cameo in the upcoming Logan film, they have since been debunked. However don’t let this news discourage because, if Ryan Reynolds had his way, Deadpool and Wolverine would have their own kickass movie where they team up and battle evil baddies.

In an exclusive interview from Variety, Ryan Reynold discusses in great length about how he hopes to make a Deadpool and Wolverine mashup movie happen:

“I would love to play Deadpool for as long as they would let me play Deadpool,” he says. “We have outlines and stories for a number of different films.” He envisions a standalone movie with Deadpool and Wolverine.

The only thing that would really stand in the way of a standalone movie with Deadpool and Wolverine would be Hugh Jackman. Logan being his last appearance as Wolverine has been a heavily publicized topic while we’ve been wondering which movie would be the concluding movie for Jackman. Considering his contracted appearances are now up, it’s surprising if he did decide to come back.

When Jackman heard about Ryan Reynolds’ suggestion that there could be a duo movie, he responded:

“I’m hesitating,” says Jackman, who plans on retiring the Wolverine character this year, “because I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit. But the timing may
be wrong.”

The one thing that Ryan Reynolds has going for him if he wants to convince Hugh Jackman to return for one final appearance as Wolverine would be if the audience wants it:

Reynolds isn’t giving up. “I have no
idea if I can change his mind,” he says.
“It’s the audience: I would exclusively exploit that relationship to get Hugh back for another one.”

Given the fact that Deadpool’s financial success was determined by an overly receptive audience, the audience may be what gives us what would be an epic, witty fighting duo. However, given Hugh Jackman’s hesitance, I am not even sure the audience would be able to convince him to return.

Even if we cannot see anymore Wolverine, we still have our beloved, pansexual friend Deadpool. Shooting for Deadpool 2 is set to start this year with a projected release in 2018. No official release date has been announced though.

Stay tuned and we will give you updates as soon as we can!
