In an exclusive brought by The Hollywood Reporter, it has been announced that Jennifer Connelly will be joining the cast of Alita: Battle Angel. She will be portraying a villain in the film.

The loose synopsis for the film is below:

Set in the 26th century, Alita tells of a female cyborg (Salazar) that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals.

Alita: Battle Angel is a collaborative project between James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez.  Rodriguez will be directing the movie and Cameron will be producing with his partner Jon Landau. Actors Christoph Waltz, Jackie Earl Haley, Keean Johnson, and Ed Skrein have already been announced as cast for the film. Leonard Wu and Lana Condor also joined the cast. The starring role will be played by Rosa Salazar.

Fox is planning on releasing the movie on July 20, 2018, but this may change.
