We were pained to hear that Peter Capaldi wants to hang up his sonic screwdriver by the end of this coming season of Doctor Who — You had a great run, Mr. Capaldi. Series 8 wasn’t your fault. As per tradition, fans are already chiming in on who could take over as The Doctor once Capaldi exists the show. Many have already been asking for a female Doctor. It’s 2017, and we already were gifted with Missy. Don’t you think it’s about time we had a lady Doctor as well? The tenth Doctor, David Tennent, has a suggestion. His Broadchurch co-star, Olivia Colman.
Colman recently won a Golden Globe for her standout performance on AMC‘s mini-drama series The Night Manager, which also stars Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie.
It’s still too early to expect any official word from BBC because Capaldi’s final season hasn’t even started yet. A British betting website (locked to us Americans) have already made a list of favored actors with Colman currently topping off the running by a decent margin of 8-1 odds. She’s followed by Richard Ayoade, James Norton, Reece Shearsmith, and Ben Whishaw.
