Colin Farrell in Talks to Star in Dumbo Remake

Colin Farrell is currently in talks to star in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Dumbo, which will be directed by Tim Burton.

Farrell would be playing the father of children who become enamored with the baby elephant. It’s been previously reported that Will Smith, Chris Pine, and Casey Affleck all passed on the role. Eva Green and Danny DeVito are also in talks to star in the film.

Burton will be adapting the movie using a script written by Ehren Kruger. Justin Springer, who worked on Tron: Legacy, is set to produce with Kruger.

The original Disney animation followed the story of an ostracized baby circus elephant who tries to achieve his dream to fly using his enormous ears. Burton’s adaptation will include both live-action and animated elements, much like how Jon Favreau made The Jungle Book.
