Welcome to the Legion!

In an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that Disney is interested in pursuing a Tron reboot with Jared Leto possibly starring in it.

This news is surprising because of the roller coaster drama associated with Disney’s previous attempts to get a Tron 3 film up and going. One day the potential film would be restarted and then the next pre-production would be shut down. After all the ups and downs surrounding pre-production, Disney announced in 2015 that they were no longer going to be pursuing Tron 3.

What I want to know is why now? Why are they deciding to reboot the series? Especially when they have so many other properties to focus on like Star Wars and Marvel?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is what the project would focus on:

Sources say this new project is not a direct sequel and is being built out of the source code of the deleted Tron 3 script. Leto would play a character named Ares, who has not appeared on screen before but was a key player in that script.

Personally, I wouldn’t hold my breath with regards to seeing this project be followed through on. Given Disney’s previous handling of the franchise post-Legacy, I am not so sure we’ll even get to see this proposed reboot. Do I sound a little bitter? You bet!

What do you think of this news? Do you really think that Disney will follow through on this Tron reboot? What do you think of Jared Leto in the starring role? Let us know your thoughts below.
