Michael Shannon Could Play Cable in Deadpool 2
According to Variety, Michael Shannon is the frontrunner to play Cable in Deadpool 2. No deal is in place yet, but the odds of him teaming up with Ryan Reynolds is becoming more and more likely. Fox currently has no comment on this.
Cable, a.k.a. Nathan Summers, is a fan favorite character among Deadpool fans. The two characters are often paired up (albeit reluctantly) in the comics. They even had their own standalone series that went on for 50 issues.
Cable has been the one hyped character since he was teased in the after credits bonus scene in Deadpool. His name comes up again in a recent teaser for Deadpool 2. There’s a message written on the phone booth that reads “Nathan Summers cumming soon!” Yes, that’s the correct spelling used in the video.
An official theatrical release date for the upcoming sequel still hasn’t been announced. David Leitch, director of the first John Wick movie, came on board last fall after Tim Miller dropped out due to creative differences with Ryan Reynolds.
Michael Shannon is currently regarded as one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors. He’s most known to comic book movie fans for his role as General Zod in Man of Steel. He received two Academy Award nominations for best supporting actor for Revolutionary Road and Nocturnal Animals.
