The casting directors for Marvel’s Inhumans are on a roll with their casting. After it was announced yesterday that Anson Mount had been cast as Black Bolt, Marvel Entertainment announced today that Serinda Swan has been cast as Medusa.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Inhumans, Medusa serves as an interpreter for the ever silent Black Bolt. Thanks to exposure by her parents to the Terrigen Mist, every strand of hair on her head has immeasurable strength, is completely elastic, and can resist intense amounts of force. To give you a mental picture of what kind of weird stuff she can do with her hair, think of Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled.

The producers of the series expressed their thoughts on the casting in statements below:

“Serinda empowers Medusa’s real glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character,” Marvel TV head and executive producer Jeph Loeb says. “She is nothing short of wonderful.” Showrunner Scott Buck adds: “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”

Marvel’s Inhumans will be executively produced by Scott Buck along with Jeph Loeb and Jim Corey, with Buck serving as showrunner. Swan will be joining Anson and Iwan Rheon, who was recently cast as Maximus, an Inhuman known for being a wee bit crazy.

The series is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
