Star Trek: Discovery Adds Jason Isaacs to its Ranks as Captain

CBS All Access adds Jason Isaacs and Mary Wiseman to the cast of Star Trek: Discovery.

Announced on StarTrek.com today, the U.S.S. Discovery is adding two more to its ranks. Jason Isaacs hangs up his platinum blonde wig and his magic wand to don a Starfleet uniform as Captain Lorca. Mary Wiseman will be playing a Starfleet Academy cadet named Tilly, fresh into her final year of study.

They are joining joins a growing cast of series regulars including Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) as Lieutenant Commander Rainsford; Doug Jones as science officer Saru; Anthony Rapp as fellow science officer Stamens, James Frain as Sarek, a Vulcan astrophysicist and Spock’s father; Terry Serpico as Starfleet admiral Anderson; Maulik Pancholy as chief medical officer Nambue; and Sam Vartholomeos as junior Starfleet officer Connor.

Set as recurring characters are Michelle Yeoh as Georgiu, captain of another ship called the Shenzhou; Shazad Latif as Kol, the Klingon commanding officer; Chris Obi as a Klingon leader T’Kuvma; and Mary Chieffo as L’Rell, a Klingon commander.

Now twice delayed, the 13-episode CBS All Access series will hopefully, finally debut either this coming summer or in the fall. Taking over for Bryan Fuller, who exited the series in October, as showrunners are longtime collaborators Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts.

Star Trek: Discovery will be available in countries around the world. The United States will be able to watch the series through CBS All Access, a paid subscription service. Canada will broadcast the show through CraveTV. And everywhere else will be able to view the series through Netflix.
