Ewan McGregor to Play Christopher Robin
In an exclusive by The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that Ewan McGregor will play an adult Christopher Robin in Disney’s Christopher Robin.
Disney’s live-action film will center on Christopher Robin except, instead of focusing on the child, he will be all grown up. The adult Christopher Robin has lost his sense of imagination and is purely focused on business and success. I imagine that the writers will make it so he is reunited with his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood, which will end up sparking his lost sense of imagination and childish wonder. You know, like they did in Hook with Robin Williams?
This is not the first time Disney has adapted A.A. Milne’s work. They’ve adapted his Winnie-the-Pooh tales into several animated projects, including the 1988 series The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the 2011 animated film Winnie the Pooh.
Alex Ross Perry wrote the screenplay, with Tom McCarthy working on a later draft. Disney has now brought in Oscar-nominated screenwriter Allison Schroeder, who wrote Hidden Figures, to help work on the script. Marc Foster, who directed Quantum of Solace, will be directing the live-action film.
