Optimus Goes Rogue in Transformers: The Last Knight Trailer

A new Transformers: The Last Knight trailer was just released, giving us a little bit of the secret history between humans and Transformers. Most of all, we learn of Optimus Prime’s motivations behind putting the smack-down on his former allies. You can check it out in the video posted below.

Following the events of 2014’s Age of Extinction, Optimus Prime takes himself out of the picture for a while. A war then breaks out between humanity and the Transformers, leading to a post-apocalyptic dystopia. As we see in the trailer, some have been hunting a faction of children who’ve been fighting against them.

The Last Knight looks to finally answer the one question we’ve been asking for a while: Why do these robots in disguise keep coming to Earth?

Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

It’s a pretty grim situation in which our characters have found themselves. Optimus, eager to get his home back, seeks redemption the only way he knows how (at the moment): destroy Earth.

Directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: The Last Knight stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro. They are joined by newcomers Isabela Moner, Liam Garrigan, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Pileggi, Laura Haddock, Santiago Cabrera and Anthony Hopkins.

The film premieres June 23, 2017.
