Steven Universe Season 5 Announced With Teaser Trailer (Corrected)

Correction: May 8, 2017 does not mark the beginning of Season 5. Steven Universe’s scheduling incredibly inconsistent with its air dates. A representative from the Cartoon Network told Polygon they don’t tend to break the show up into explicit seasons “since the programming schedule is a unique one.”


At long last, Steven Universe is coming back to Cartoon Network! Announced on Twitter, the network announced the season 5 premiere date while also giving us a 49-second long teaser of what’s to come.

The teaser gives us a brief recap of Steven’s latest adventures. It then quickly dives into some new snippets, including a preview into an episode where Sadie mysteriously goes missing. In the teaser’s final moments, we see strange shadows approaching Onion, and then a little voice asking someone “Are you my daddy?” What?!? Take a look at the video below.

Also coming is a Steven Universe RPG, titled Steven Universe: Save the LightDeveloped by Grumpyface Studios, Save the Light is expected to hit consoles this sometime this summer. It’s a direct sequel to the mobile game Steven Universe: Attack the Light.

According to PolygonSave the Light will feature an original story from the show’s creator, Rebecca Sugar. Steven and the Crystal Gems are tasked with retrieving a stolen magical weapon. The game will feature a mix of real-time and turn-based battles, with plenty of party customization and puzzle-solving as well.

New episodes of Steven Universe premiere on Cartoon Network May 8, 2017.
