Syfy Debuts First Trailer for Superman Prequel Series, Krypton

At last we get to see the first footage for Krypton, SyFy’s prequel series before Superman was even a glimmer in Jor-El’s eye. You can watch the trailer below.

Syfy’s Krypton, the much-anticipated Superman prequel set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

In the video, we get our first look at Superman’s grandfather who began the legendary House of El on Krypton. By the looks of it, Krypton may serve as a tie-in to the current DCEU films. The symbol for the House of El is the same design as Henry Cavill’s Superman rather than the “S” seen in CW’s Supergirl. The key to the Fortress is the same one featured in Man of Steel as well.

If you want further proof, Krypton is produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy). He also wrote the pilot and the story with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles).

Syfy looks like it’s coming back to form. It’s handling of high science fiction dramas being especially noticeable since the debut of The Expanse. Let’s hope they’re able to keep the ball rolling with Krypton, which looks like it will be another high budget sci-fi romp.
