The Inhumans Set Photos Reveal Medusa With a Lot Less Hair

Marvel’s upcoming new television series for ABC, The Inhumans, continues to film in Hawaii. Some new set photos released on Twitter revealing something Serinda Swan (playing Medusa) with an intriguing new haircut.

The photos below show Medusa as bald as Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta. This is surprising for a number of reasons, the biggest being that Meduda’s powers stem from the ability to control her long flowing locks and use them as a weapon.

Of course, we don’t have context as to why we’re looking at a bald head here. This could be the actress’ personal style (doubtful), or this could be a practical decision for the show — it might be easier for the production team to add a wig and CGI effects. On the other hand, this could also be part of a narrative.

According to CinemaBlend, a short description about the show has been made public:

After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.

Perhaps Medusa is being punished, and neutering her powers is the result of that.

In earlier photos, Swan is seen wearing a wig while playing Medusa. It wouldn’t be unheard of if they nixed that route, however.

The Inhumans stars Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon as Maximus the Mad, Serinda Swan as Queen Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Mike Moh as Triton and Sonya Balmores as Auran.

The new series will be eight-episode long, centering on the Royal Family of Inhumans (whatever that means in Marvel’s Television Universe), a race of genetically advanced humans with super powers. The first two episodes were filmed entirely with IMAX cameras and will premiere in participating IMAX theaters on September 1, 2017, two weeks before the show’s broadcast debut on September 26, 2017 on ABC.
