The Great War we’ve all been waiting for will begin in Season 7 of Game of Thrones and, boy, is it going to be intense if we have the trailer to base anything off of.
The trailer lays out what is in store for all parties involved in the battle for Westeros. Cersei (Lena Headey) acknowledges that there are enemies coming from all sides but, as she so often does, she dismisses them. She’s got it covered. Meanwhile Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is on the warpath and is finally returning to claim a throne that has long been told was hers. She steps foot on Westeros’ soil. She declares, “I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms.”However, Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham), ever the voice of reason points out that there may not be a throne if they don’t battle the Night King.
We see bits and pieces of Arya (Maisie Williams) throughout the trailer, but not much revealed about her. I am becoming concerned that Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) may be swayed to the dark side by Littlefinger as he reminds her that is the only one left standing.
The trailer ends with the Dothraki and the beautifully majestic Drogon charging the battlefield. Shenanigans is going to happen, you guys. And it is going to be epic!
Last season we saw Cersei ascending to the throne now that her children are all dead. Daenerys took off with her dragons and her army towards Westeros. And, as we’ve known for awhile now, the Night King is getting ready to head South to wage a battle for supremacy over Seven Kingdoms. Considering we don’t have much time left for the series, loose ends are going to be wrapped up in a big way with this upcoming season.
Game of Thrones Season 7 will premiere this summer on July 16, 2017.
