Get a Load of These New Star Wars Photos From Vanity Fair!
Vanity Fair released their massive cover story on the upcoming, highly anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is scheduled to come out in theaters this December. On top of hearing some new insights fro the cast and crew of the film, we also get to see beautiful new images taken on set by the one and only Annie Leibovitz. Take a look at the gallery as well as the “On Set Exclusive” video below.
“When I read the script for Episode VIII, I went, ‘Oh my God, we’re going back?’ Because I said I was never going back,” Mark Hamill told David Kamp of Vanity Fair, “which is so clueless of me, because there’s no landing pad, and it would mar the beauty of it all.” It took Hamill, 65, about an hour and a half to climb atop Skellig Michael, the now iconic little isle where Rey finally meets an aged Luke Skywalker, “and I had to stop every 10, 15 minutes to rest.”
As it stands now in the Star Wars movies, our younger main characters aren’t exactly sitting pretty and basking in their victory from The Force Awakens. Finn (John Boyega) had been gravely injured by Kylo Ren’s lightsaber. According to Boyega, the next time we meet Finn, he’ll still be in that “bacta suit,” a regenerative immersion tank that heals damaged tissue. “I feel like almost everyone is in that rehabilitation state,” comments Adam Driver, whose character Kylo Ren committed patricide as a way to continue his training unimpeded under Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis). “I don’t think that patricide is all that it’s cracked up to be. Maybe that’s where Kylo Ren is starting from. His external scar is probably as much an internal one.”
