Tala Ashe Joins CW’s Legends of Tomorrow as Series Regular
A new hero is being added to the lineup on CW’s Legends of Tomorrow. Tala Ashe is joining the Berlanti-verse as Zari Adrianna Tomaz. In the comics, Zari is a citizen of the fictional country of Kahndaq who fights against the country’s corrupt government and its leader, Black Adam. Her efforts eventually lead her to becoming the hero Isis.
In Legends of Tomorrow, Tala’s version of Zari is a Muslim-American woman from the year 2030 who “lives in a world of contradictions.”
Fear, prejudice and a lack of care for the planet have forced Zari to become a “grey hat hacktivist.” Described as a computer nerd with a wry, combative attitude, she is a woman living a double life who doesn’t realize that she has secret, latent powers derived from an ancient, mystical source.
Ashe is an Iranian-American dual citizen who speaks fluent Farsi. She was last seen on television in American Odyssey. Her other TV credits include Smash, 30 Rock, Law & Order, and Covert Affairs. She recently starred in a few off-Broadway productions such as The Profane at Playwrights Horizons, Troilus and Cressida at Shakespeare in the Park, and Head Over Heels from producer Gwyneth Paltrow and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
