Wonder Woman is DEFINITELY Getting a Sequel!

Prepare those tissue boxes again, ladies, because Wonder Woman is definitely getting a sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins are officially contracted to make a second film. And get this — it will have an entirely new setting.

“The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right,” Jenkins told Entertainment Weeklyadding, “She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.” She goes on to add how much of a bond she has with Gadot and the filmmaking team who worked with her.

I’m not a big obligation person when it comes to art. You want to do a movie like this because you believe in it. Then I had this revelation in the middle of the night: this is your dream cast, you’ve created a character that you love and you can say anything you want in the world right now.

I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It’s a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love.

This wonderful news comes as no surprise. Wonder Woman received rave reviews across the board even before the June 2 premiere date, scoring a 93% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Then the film did amazingly well in the box office over the weekend. According to the latest report from The Hollywood Reporter, the final box office numbers racked up a total of $228 million, globally.

We already can’t wait to see what Jenkins and Gadot have in store for us in the sequel.
