If any of you ever had a burning desire to see Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise be adapted into an anime series, you may be getting your wish.

Adi Shankar, the producer of Netflix’s Castlevania series, made an announcement on his Facebook page stating that his next animated project was going to be focused on Assassin’s Creed:

I’m happy to let you guys know that I’ve selected my next project! I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream. At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s Creed and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong.

Although no details have been revealed yet regarding the series, the focus on creating a new story implies that we may be getting a whole new set of characters. This would further expand the realm that makes up the Assassin’s Creed universe as well as keep confusion at a minimum for new people to the series.

Hopefully this anime series will do a lot better than the live-action adaptation. Michael Fassbender, be damned. That adaptation left much to be desired.

What do you think about this news? Do you think they should make an anime series for the franchise or leave it be? Let us know in the comments below.
