D23 Expo 2017: Here’s a First Look at Star Wars Land, It’s Huge

I’ve got a bad good feeling about this. During a special preview of D23 Expo, fans got their first look at a ginormous model of Star Wars Land coming soon to Disneyland park in Anaheim, California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. If you’re headed to D23 yourself, you can take a gander at the model in person in the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ “A Galaxy of Stories” pavilion. You can take a look at the pictures in the slideshow below, along with a short video to get a proper idea of the model’s scale.

The huge model was unveiled by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek on Thursday.

“To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement,” Chapek said. “All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.”

It’s beautiful!!!!

For now, all we have is what the theme park will look like, but Chapek plans to reveal more details during the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Hall D23 Presentation on Saturday. In addition to being able to see the model in-person at D23, visitors will also get to ogle at display models, artwork and media that will provide a first-ever look at some of the locations, starships, creatures, and droids.

Star Wars Land will feature two headline attractions: piloting the Millennium Falcon on a secret mission, and an experience that will place guests right in the middle of a conflict between the First Order and the Resistance.

So far, the aim is to open Star Wars Land sometime in 2019. Start your vacation planning now!
