J.R. Ramirez Joins Season 2 Cast of Netflix’s Jessica Jones

Marvel has announced that J.R. Ramirez joined the cast of Marvel’s Jessica Jones for Season 2 as a recurring guest star.

Ramirez is set to play Oscar, a single father who is the new superintendent in Jessica’s building. While Oscar prefers to stay away from Jessica (and the trouble that tends to follow her wherever she goes) his young and impressionable son is totally captivated by the surly hero and her powers.

“J.R. is an incredible addition to our cast, bringing complex and subtle emotion and humor,” said Marvel’s Jessica Jones series Creator and Executive Producer, Melissa Rosenberg. “He exudes warmth, edge and intelligence, and blends perfectly with our tone.”

Ramirez previously played a character named Julio in Starz’s Power, but we most likely recognize him as the guy who played the CW-esque version of Wildcat on Arrow. He taught Laurel Lance how to fight better as Black Canary.

Also joining the Jessica Jones cast is Golden Globe winner and two-time Academy Award-nominated actress Janet McTeer, who joined the series earlier in the year for a major mystery role. Leah Gibson has also joined the series as Ingrid, a street-wise woman trained as a nurse.

Krysten Ritter reprises her role as the title hero in the series. She will be seen next in the upcoming Marvel’s The Defenders, which debuts August 18, 2017 on Netflix.
