Welcome to the Legion!

The new animated series from Disney and Lucasfilm titled Forces of Destiny has released their fifth episode (even though they’ve accidentally labeled it their sixth). This episode focuses on Princess Leia Organa during what looks to be Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back since she is in the outfit she wore when she was at the rebel base in Hoth.

In this episode we see Leia with R2-D2 before they discover Chewie. Chewie refuses to move due to not wanting to wake up a sleeping Wampa. However, C3P0 ruins his attempts and the Wampa wakes up. Leia uses herself as a distraction against the Wampa in order to get Chewie and R2-D2 out of there.

Each animated short will be about 2-3 minutes long and will feature Rey (Daisy Ridley), Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Sabine (Tiya Sircar), Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) and Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o).

The series will stay true to the canon already established by Lucasfilm. Their  main focus is showing us how choices both big and small ultimately shape the destiny of these familiar characters. All of the characters featured in the series are all unique and special and this series seeks to represent and convey those qualities.

This animated mini-series will be released on Disney Youtube.  These shorts will serve to set up the basis for a two-part TV special featuring eight additional shorts on Disney Channel this Fall season.
