SDCC 2017: Justice League Unleashes Super-Sized, Epic Trailer
There is a lot to see in the new trailer for the upcoming Justice League movie. During the Warner Bros. panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) introduced new footage from the action-packed film that unites the world’s greatest heroes when a new, otherworldly threat arrives on Earth. Still missing is Henry Cavill’s Superman, but probably not for long….
The new trailer introduces the new villain, Steppenwolf, who crash lands onto Earth via a Mother Box that was being kept on Themiscyra Island under the watchful eye of the Amazons.
The new footages shows a lot of epic hero scenes. Diana’s bank robbery scene continues to show us how bad ass the Amazon is. However, it doesn’t look like everyone is ready for battle.
“It’s really cool you guys seem ready to do battle and stuff, but I’ve never done battle,” The Flash explains. “I’ve just pushed some people and run away.” I have a feeling The Flash is going to be the team puppy in this movie. I mean that in a good way.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Towards the end of the trailer, there’s a funny gag that calls back to Batman’s habit of disappearing while Commissioner Gordon has his back turned but is still talking to him. Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Aquaman all vanish from the Gotham rooftop except The Flash who hadn’t even noticed.
At the very end, the trailer teases a certain someone’s return, about which Alfred only knew. It’s most likely Superman because who else could it be?
And while this character never makes an appearance, it’s certainly confirmed that he exists in the universe somewhere. Steppenwolf mentions the “Green Lanterns,” the intergalactic police organization. That means Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, or all of the above exist in the DCEU.
Justice League will hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
