Today Fox Searchlight Pictures has released a new trailer for their biopic Goodbye Christopher Robin. The movie revolves around A.A. Milne’s creation of Winnie the Pooh and his relationship with his son Christopher Robin and how it transforms once Winnie the Pooh takes off.
I thought the trailer evoked a certain sadness, whether due to the loss of innocence or just seeing the familiar tale of how fame can come to affect a family differently.
The summary of the film is below:
Directed by Simon Curtis, Goodbye Christopher Robin offers a rare glimpse into the relationship between the beloved children’s author and his son, Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother Daphne, and his nanny Olive, Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the first World War. But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?
The film stars Domhnall Gleeson as Milne, Margot Robbie as his wife Daphne, and Kelly MacDonald.
Goodbye Christopher Robin is set to be released in theaters on October 13, 2017.
