Suicide Squad’s Joker and Harley are Getting Their Own Movie
Batman’s most bankable villains, Joker and Harley, are getting their own movie. Directing and executive producing are Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (This is Us), who gave us the 2011 romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Ficarra and Requa are currently in final negotiations to write and direct the untitled movie project. It will star Jared Leto and Margot Robbie as Joker and Harley Quinn respectively.
The film will be a “criminal love story,” according to Hollywood Reporter’s source. It will be “an insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine.” If you don’t know what benzedrine is, it’s an amphetamine often used to, metaphorically speaking, kick lethargy out of a speeding race car. It’s also known as “bennies.”
It was previously announced this week that Warner Bros. will be releasing comic book films outside of the current DCEU line of flicks simultaneously, starting with Ben Affleck’s Batman. No doubt the studio wants to make things just as confusing as DC Comics’ timeline. However, the Joker and Harley movie is said to be established within the DCEU timeline. Somehow.
What do you guys think of this development? Let us know in the comments!
