Two Female Directors Added to Production of ‘X-Files’ Season 11

Gender inequality is still out there, and we do still need to talk about in civil conversation without plugging our ears and shouting over one another. So with that in mind, can we also celebrate the fact that two female directors just joined in on the production of The X-Files, Season 11?

TVLine has learned which ladies will be directing two of the episodes in The X-Files revival series respectively.

Carol Banker has had a long history with the franchise; she served as the script supervisor from 1999-2002. She also served as a director on the short-lived spin-off series The Lone Gunmen.

Holly Dale may be new to the X-Files scene, but not the genre. She directed more than 100 hours of episodic TV, including Being Erica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Grimm, Timeless and Reign.

The hiring comes roughly a month after news broke that all 10 episodes for this upcoming season would be written by men. Naturally, there was swift social media backlash. Even the show’s star, Gillian Anderson, joined in on the collective head shake of disappointment.

The X-Files is scheduled to return in early 2018.
