A Boy Searches for his Dog in Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs
The first trailer for Wes Anderson’s second stop-animated film dropped on Friday. Isle of Dogs is set in the near future, Japan was faced with a Dog Flu epidemic. As a result, every dog in the country had to be shipped off to a garbage island and fend for themselves. One 12-year-old boy, ain’t havin’ any of it.
The film follows a group of dogs who’ve been quarantined on an island made up entire of garbage due to canine overpopulation which then led to the spreading of disease amongst Japan’s humans. They come across a young boy who commandeered a plane so he could fly to the island and search for his pet, Spot.
Anderson first announced Isle of Dogs back in 2016, a few years after the success of his Oscar-winning animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox. It stars a lot of Anderson’s usual suspects — Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, and Tilda Swinton. They’re joined by more of our favorite actors such as Ken Watanabe, Greta Gerwig, Harvey Keitel, Live Schreiber, Courtney B. Vance, Akira Takayama, and even Yoko Ono.
Isle of Dogs comes out March 23, 2018. You can watch the debut trailer below.
