Peter Rabbit is a classic kid’s tale written by Beatrix Potter, where the title character was known for being a wee bit naughty and doing things that he shouldn’t. However, throwing a raging college-style party in someone’s house? I don’t think anyone would have ever expected that.
And, yet, that is exactly what Sony Animation showed us in the first official trailer for their upcoming 3D animated film Peter Rabbit. Somewhere Beatrix Potter is rolling around in her grave and I am more than happy to join her. Whoever decided that it would be a good idea to throw in crass, bargain bin humor to appeal to kids everywhere in this adaptation of Peter Rabbit should be smacked.
Do I feel strongly about this? Yes…yes, I do. The only real positives seen in this trailer are the animation and the hilarious screaming moment with Mr. McGregor.
The official synopsis for the film is below:
Peter Rabbit, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers, now takes on the starring role of his own irreverent, contemporary comedy with attitude. In the film, Peter’s feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door (Rose Byrne).
The film will hop into theaters on February 9, 2018. Please make sure to watch the trailer below and let me know if you agree or disagree with me.
