Lion King Cast Announcement

Yesterday Beyonce posted the full cast announcement of Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King on her official Facebook page. Walt Disney Studios also tweeted it out. You can check out the full cast announcement above.

The official synopsis for the original animated film is below:

Disney’s The Lion King follows the adventures of the young lion Simba, the heir of his father, Mufasa. Simba’s wicked uncle, Scar, plots to usurp Mufasa’s throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon  and Pumbaa.

The cast consists of Donald Glover (Simba), Beyonce Knowles-Carter (Nala), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Seth Rogan (Pumbaa), Alfre Woodard (Sarabi), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), John Kani (Rafiki) Billy Eichner (Timon), John Oliver (Zazu), Eric Andre (Azizi), Florence Kasumba (Shenzi), Keggan-Michael Key (Kamari), JD McCrary (Young Simba), and Shahadi Wright Joseph (Young Nala).

Disney’s The Lion King is expecting to roar into theaters on July 19, 2019.
