Welcome to the Legion!

Neon – I, Tonya

Neon released the teaser trailer a couple of weeks ago, but now we have a glorious red band trailer of I, Tonya, featuring Margot Robbie playing the infamous ice skater Tonya Harding.

As someone who grew up being obsessed with figure skaters and dancing, I am very intrigued by how this story will be told onscreen. The event that ended up marking Harding’s career will hopefully be handled with care, but it is a dark comedy film. So, we’ll see what happens.

The official synopsis for the film is below:

Based on unbelievable but true events, I, Tonya is a darkly comedic tale of American figure skater Tonya Harding and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history. Though Harding was the first American woman to complete a triple axel in competition, her legacy has forever been defined by her association with an infamous, ill-conceived and worse-executed attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan in 1994.

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Steven Rogers. The film stars Margot Robbie, along with others including Sebastian Stan, Allison Janney, Paul Walter Hauser, Julianne Nicholson, Caitlin Carver, Bojana Novakovic and Bobby Cannavale.

The film opens in theaters on December 8, 2017. Please check out the red band trailer below and let us know your thoughts.
