Following yesterday’s release of key art, The CW released a new trailer that focuses on the resurrection of the titular character in their upcoming series, Black Lightning. In the trailer, we get to see the buildup of how Jefferson Pierce ends up coming back to his former superhero self. It looks like a lot of it has to do with Tobias Whale, a former politician we finally get to meet in this new trailer.
Like all superheroes that retire only to come back and don the mantle again, it doesn’t look like any of the villains will be happy to see the man return to his former glory.
The official synopsis for the show is below:
Jefferson Pierce is a man wrestling with a secret. Nine years ago, Pierce was gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, which he used to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life and his family on the line, he left his Super Hero days behind. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.
