In an exclusive from Deadline, Marvel Entertainment has revealed their title for a new multiplatform animation franchise featuring the next generation of superheroes. The title will be Marvel Rising, which seems very fitting due to the emphasis placed on the next generation of superheroes.
The series will feature the ever popular Spider-Gwen and Squirrel Girl. We’ll also be getting some Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel action, which makes me personally giddy.
The current plan of action is to release 6 four minute long shorts focused primarily on Spider-Gwen. This will happen before the launch of a full-length animation film. This approach reminds me of how Disney and Lucasfilm approached their Forces of Destiny line.
The general synopsis for the franchise is below:
When a threat no one could have expected bears down on the Marvel Universe, this ragtag, untrained band of teens have no choice but to rise together and prove to the world that sometimes the difference between a “hero” and “misfit” is just in the name.
The new franchise will feature the voices of Kathleen Khavari as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Milana Vayntrub as Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl, Dove Cameron as Gwen Stacy/Ghost Spider, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson/Quake, Kamil McFadden as Rayshaun Lucas/Patriot, Tyler Posey as Dante Pertuz/Inferno, Cierra Ramirez as America Chavez, Dee Bradley Baker as Lockjaw/Tippy Toe, Ming-Na Wen as Hala the Accuser, Booboo Stewart as Victor Kohl/Exile, and Kim Raver as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.
Marvel Rising will be released and rise up sometime in 2018. No specific dates have been announced, but there will be plenty of updates until its release. Until then, check out the exclusive teaser for the animation franchise below.
