Welcome to the Legion!

Ready Player One (2018)
Tye Sheridan as Wade Owen Watts/Parzival

Today Warner Bros. Pictures released a new trailer for their upcoming dystopian sci-fi adaptation Ready Player One. In this trailer, we get a further look into the OASIS and how its existence gives Parzival meaning.

After watching the trailer,  I do have a concern that they will be relying too heavily on flashy visuals to sell the story to the audience. That and, for audience members who haven’t read the book, all of the various references like the Iron Giant and Back to the Future may threaten to take them out of the movie while viewing. I may just be overthinking this, but I do think it could be a potential concern.

Ready Player One is based off of Ernest Cline’s novel of the same name.

The film stars Tye Sheridan as Wade Owen Watts/Parzival, Olivia Cooke as Art3mis, and Mark Rylance as James Donovan Halliday.

The official synopsis is below:

Set in the 2045, Parzival plays a virtual reality game entitled OASIS. The game is a way for him to feel like he actually matters in this dark, gritty world and he is one of the many who seemingly spend their time this way.

OASIS was designed by Halliday and the player who can uncover the Easter eggs left behind by Halliday first, wins.

Ready Player One will be released on March 30, 2018. Please make sure you watch the trailer below and let us know your thoughts.
