Marvel is moving ahead with a Black Widow standalone
Finally! After fans have been asking for years, it was revealed today that Marvel Studios is moving ahead with a Black Widow standalone movie. Marvel has brought on Jac Schaeffer to pen the script for the standalone.
Jac Schaeffer is an up and coming screenwriter in the industry. She was first recognized for her work on the Black List script The Shower. The script was intriguing enough to draw the attention of actress Anne Hathaway. Hathaway enjoyed her work so much that she brought Schaeffer on to write Nasty Woman.
Now I don’t want you all to get too excited. The project itself hasn’t been greenlit yet, so there is still potential for this project not to go forward and fulfill all of our desires for a standalone. So it is still very much in the early stages of development.
However, the fact that Marvel has gone ahead to start getting a script up and going is a big step forward for the company. Fans have been pushing them to do a standalone since her Scarlett Johansson’s first appearance in Iron Man 2, where she stole the hearts of everyone. In each appearance since, Black Widow continues to woo audiences.
Now that Marvel is almost done with the phases they had initially planned, we should be seeing many more exciting potential projects in the future.
