Actress DeWanda Wise tackles first major movie role in Marvel’s Captain Marvel
In an exclusive released today by Deadline, it was revealed that DeWanda Wise will be joining the Marvel Universe. She will be playing an undisclosed role in Marvel’s Captain Marvel, but I’m sure we’ll find out who she is playing soon enough.
Wise joins Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, and Ben Mendelsohn in the film, which will take us back to the 1990s. Ben Mendelsohn will be portraying the film’s villain and Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising his role as Nick Fury. For those familiar with Captain Marvel in the comics, she is the alter-ago of Carol Danvers. Carol Danvers was an Air Force pilot who acquired superpowers after her DNA fused with an alien’s after an accident.
DeWanda Wise is most known for her work on She’s Got to Have It, which is currently playing on Netflix. Netflix just renewed the series for a second season. She has also appeared in WGN’s Underground, which is a fantastic show and everyone should watch it.
Captain Marvel is set to be released in theaters on March 8, 2019. We will keep you updated on any other casting news.
