Gemma Chan (Humans) has been cast in the role of Minn-Erva in the upcoming Marvel Studios film Captain Marvel, according to Deadline. Minn-Erva (aka Doctor Minerva) is a Kree geneticist and spy. Not only does she have the powers of the Kree, but she was also mutagenically altered by the Kree Psyche-Magnetron. She’s got super strength and can fly. She’s also intuitive and has a better than average chance to getting a guess right. She’s a graduate of the Kree Science Adademy and can pilot Kree starships. There is no word on what her powers will be in the Marvel film.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as the titular superhero, as well as Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelshon. The film will take place in the 1990s with the Skrulls as the villains. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will direct the film, which will hit theaters on March 8, 2019. The script was written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet with previous versions written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman.
