Welcome to the Legion!

Sony’s VENOM

The new teaser teaches us about embracing our demons.

After the release of a minimalist poster yesterday, Sony Pictures has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming Venom film. And the trailer certainly mounts up the tension and makes us squirm in our seats.

The trailer starts off with Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock discussing the concept of change: “You used to be one thing. Now you’re something else.” We are then taken through various vignettes through Brock’s life leading up to a catastrophic accident. We are then brought to a hospital room where we see Eddie screaming. There are no signs of the symbiote, but we all know it’s there. And it’s changing him.

Sony has made it clear that Venom is going to be a standalone film and will not be connected to the MCU. I’m all for that decision because it would give them plenty of room to develop the character separately from the universe we are familiar with.

The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer. The screenplay was written by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, Kelly Marcel and Will Beall. Venom is based on the Marvel character of the same name.

The film stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze and Reid Scott. Venom hits theaters October 5, 2017. Make sure you check out the teaser below and let us know your thoughts.
