HBO released a teaser for their miniseries Sharp Objects
HBO has released the teaser trailer for Sharp Objects and it is a moody, tense doozy of a tease. Those who are unfamiliar with the novel will get a great glimpse at the tone of the piece from the teaser.
As someone who has just recently read Flynn’s Dark Places and Sharp Objects, I found myself most interested in seeing Sharp Objects being adapted for the screen. Flynn has a propensity for creating characters that are tortured and carry massive chips on their shoulder, but Camille always struck me as a character who if you just touched her, she would break into a million pieces. The casting of Amy Adams made me excited because she conveys that fragile feeling that I had seen in Camille. I can’t wait to see how this miniseries plays out.
The official synopsis is below:
Based on the book by The New York Times bestselling author Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl, Dark Places), this eight-episode series tells the story of reporter Camille Preaker (Adams) who returns to her small hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.
The series stars Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins and Matt Craven.
The limited series will premiere in July 2018. Just in time for that blazing hot weather that you can’t help but feel in the novel Sharp Objects.
