Check out the season 2 release date announcement for the Netflix series Glow

Netflix posted an announcement video for season 2 of their ladies wrestling series Glow today and it’s, like, totally awesome, dude! We knew season 2 was coming, and that it might be released this summer, but today we have an official date! Glow season 2 will return to the streaming service on June 29, when I’m likely to take off from work, don some spandex and glitter and watch the entire thing from my couch. I mean…no, that’s exactly what I meant. In the video, the ladies dance to “Maniac,” complete with neon touches and glitter everywhere! It’s magical.

I loved season 1. I actually watched it two times. Now, while I know this isn’t a strictly geeky show, the ’80s of it all seems a little sci-fi to me. (Maybe that’s because I don’t want to remember wearing those colors and that terrible fluorescent green lace scarf tied in my hair.) Mostly the reason I’m covering it here is that fact that almost the entire cast is women. It’s frankly a relief to watch something like this. They highlight female friendships, conflicts, personalities and more, and it’s damn funny in the middle of all the drama. (Also, if you rewatch The Good Place, you can see a couple of Glow cameos in there.)

Glow@LegionofLeia may not have exploded onto the scene with the first season, but there was a huge word of mouth campaign for the show. I was certainly one of the people telling all of my friends to watch. I don’t know if people really knew what it was. When I told my better half to watch, he did it reluctantly…until the first episode. He said, “I had no idea what this was going to be, but I absolutely love it.” That was the reaction I heard from everyone. Guys, do yourself a favor and go watch season 1 on Netflix now. If you do, leave your thoughts in the comments or tweet us .
