Welcome to the Legion!
We can barely begin to process Avengers: Infinity War, but here's our spoiler-free review

What did you think of Avengers: Infinity War?

What did you think of Avengers: Infinity War?

Avengers: Infinity War is the latest Marvel movie to be released and completely blew us away! I’m still reeling from what I saw! I’m dying to hear what you guys thought! Now that you guys have had a chance to see it, I’m interested to see how you interpret what everyone said at the press conference. We’re opening the comments to SPOILERS, so feel free to speak freely. If you haven’t seen it yet, do NOT look! You definitely want to see this fresh!

During the press conference, a reporter asked Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) about fashion—yes, the entire audience groaned—though she was actually very good natured about it. She joked about the leather bodysuit that she’s been in for 10 years, told us that she’s very excited about her new vest and her new hairstyle, laughed with other actors about the question later on.

Letitia Wright was asked by a teacher about the influence Shuri has had on young kids and their interest in science and tech. Wright said, “It’s something that is super new to me, to play this character and to have a character who is interested in all these amazing subject matters. I wish I had a Shuri on TV or in the movies when I was growing up. I would have stayed in my maths classes a little bit longer. But I’m really happy that this character Shuri has allowed young kids to feel like learning is cool and that they can contribute to the world with science and maths and technology, and also engineering as well, getting pulled into that whole movement of feeling like it’s not just a thing for the guys, but for young women, old women, anyone to just get into and contribute positively. “

There have been reports that the cast members didn’t read the entire script. Benedict Cumberbatch who plays Doctor Strange said that he did, but that it might not have been the final script. Tom Holland who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man hasn’t even seen the Iron Spider suit since it’s all CGI. His first viewing was the premiere.

Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) was asked if Infinity War was Black Panther 1.5, since there is so much of Wakanda in the trailers, but he told the crowd that it wasn’t. We actually heard Pom Klementieff who plays Mantis and Winston Duke who plays M’Baku mention that they’re doing upcoming films, so that’s at least two characters who might not die this time around.

One of the best questions was, of course, about the rumor of an all-female Marvel film. Danai Gurira who plays Okoye said she knew she’d be asked this question. She said, “I’ve heard said rumors also.” Elizabeth Olsen who plays Scarlet Witch said she’s heard them also. Gurira continued, “No, I don’t know details on that. I was just thinking how excited I am about Brie Larson who is shooting Captain Marvel right now. How that could be a pretty awesome venture. But the awesome thing that we see happening across many dimensions in our entertainment industry is seeing more women take the helm in various realms, and that is not only about time, but it will make the world a better place. I think so. I’m looking forward to the future.”

Olsen was asked about a solo Scarlet Witch film, and she said she’s be thrilled. However, she said she wasn’t pushing for it. She did talk about what she and Paul Bettany (Vision) were joking about. “Paul and I joke about how we would love to do a House of M spinoff. Really domesticated, indie version of it. I think that would be a lot of fun. That part of her story is the reason why I love this character so much.”
