So, it is starting to look more likely that we will see a female Muslim superhero on the big screen. And I couldn’t be happier.
In a recent interview with BBC, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige shared that there are plans for a film that centers around Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. He told BBC:
Ms. Marvel… is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.”
Currently, Marvel Studios is finishing up production on the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, with Brie Larson taking on the role of Carol Danvers. The film is expected to be released on March 8, 2019. The game plan for the MCU after the next untitled Avengers film comes out later next year seems rather up in the air. However, this news indicates that the wheels are turning.
Ms. Marvel stars the groundbreaking heroine Kamala Khan who succeeds Carol Danvers old superhero mantle. Khan starts as an ordinary Muslim-American girl from Jersey City until she is suddenly empowered with extraordinary gifts.
Until then, we will have to get our Marvel superhero fix with Avengers: Infinity War.
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
Avengers: Infinity War is currently out in theaters.
