Billy Dee Williams to return as Lando Calrissian in Star Wars IX!

Well Star Wars fans! You’ve been waiting and it’s finally official. Billy Dee Williams is returning to play Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, according to THR. Rumers have abounded recently among Star Wars fanatics since he recently pulled out of a convention because of a movie conflict. The site says that sources have confirmed his return to the franchise. The last time we saw him was in Return of the Jedi in 1983.

A few years back, Williams appeared as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars where he danced to some Star Wars music. Earlier this year we saw Donald Glover absolutely kill it as a younger version of the space scoundrel, and Han Solo’s frenemy in Solo: a Star Wars story. We saw his cape collection, his way with the ladies and just how Han got the Millennium Falcon from him.

As you know, Abrams took over for Colin Trevorrow, who was originally supposed to helm the film. The director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is writing the script with Lawrence Kasdan. Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o and Adam Driver will return to reprise their roles from the last two Star Wars films. The most recent, The Last Jedi has proved divisive with fans, with passionate defenders on both sides.

Star Wars: Episode IX will hit theaters on December 20, 2019. Are you guys excited? What do you think of the return of Lando Calrissian? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Oh god…he’s the only original left!
