“Like a turd in the wind.” Okay. Sony Pictures has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming Venom film, and in this one, we get a much closer look at the symbiote. The feel of the film seems dark and ominious until the end when Eddie Brock/Venom (Tom Hardy) goes after a guy in a convenience store. There he gives a speech about what he’s going to do to the guy. Limb removal is the big selling point here, leaving the guy going down the street “like a turd in the wind.” So wait, it’s funny? Interesting.

As you likely know, Venom is a film that stands separately from anything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we’ll be seeing no friendly neighborhood Spider-Man here. I mean, he’s a poof on the wind right now, after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, but still.

The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer. The screenplay was written by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, Kelly Marcel and Will Beall. Venom is based on the Marvel character of the same name.

The film stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze and Reid Scott. Venom hits theaters October 5, 2017. Make sure you check out the teaser below and let us know your thoughts.

I’m, of course, curious about what you guys think of the new trailer for Venom. Do you like it? What are your thoughts on the standalone film? Is this something you’re going to see in theaters? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
