Y: The Last Man finally has its cast

The cast of FX Networks adaptation of Y: The Last Man was revealed today by Deadline. Diane Lane has been cast along with Barry Koeoghan, Imogen Poots, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield, and Marin Ireland.

Lane will be playing Senator Jennifer Brown, the mother of Koeoghan’s Yorick Brown. Poots will be playing Hero Brown, Yorick’s sister. Lynch will be playing Agent 355. Canfield will be playing Beth, who is Yorick’s main love interest. Ireland will be playing Nora.

FX has also revealed that it has renamed the series to Y instead of utilizing the full name of the comic.

Melina Matsoukas will direct the pilot. Michael Green and Aida Mashaka Croal will serve as co-showrunners and will executive produce along with Matsoukas, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Brian K. Vaughan.

Based on the DC comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y: The Last Man traverses a world of women — exploring gender, race, class and survival.

Y: The Last Man is an award-winning science fiction comic book series published beginning in 2002. It was created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra.
