Last week it was revealed that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was going to be getting the reboot treatment. However, after the initial release of information, there were concerns from fans everywhere. I was also a bit confused because of the original groundwork the show had established back when it was running that would allow the Slayer to be replaceable.
Luckily, showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen went to Twitter to assuage all of our fears and clarify to fans everywhere what the actual intention the show is going for creatively:

This statement does help ease some worries. For many of us, Buffy Summers is a legendary icon. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s performance helped cement the character in the minds of many. To reboot the character would be a difficult task that would likely end up burning the show before it even gets off the floor.
There are countless possibilities as to where this series can go development-wise. However, we can rest easy knowing that Buffy won’t be replaced. There will be a new Slayer and she will kick all the ass!
