Netflix releases Iron Fist season 2 trailer

Netflix has released the first official full-length trailer of Marvel’s Iron Fist season 2! And I have to say that it looks promising.

Anyone who knows me knows that I tried my darndest to get through the first season of this show. I made it to episode 10 before I gave up. Why? Because I primarily couldn’t connect with the character and didn’t understand where he was coming from or what his motivation was. To many, he was the epitome of white privilege and reeked of the white savior complex trope. Throw in some really painfully obvious poor fighting scenes, a poorly constructed romance, and villains that were way more interesting than Danny Rand, and you have a recipe for my disinterest.

However, looking at this new trailer, I have to say that there might be hope for Iron Fist yet. The fight scenes look cleaner. The writers gave Danny Rand an actual more conflict as he is presented with the turning of Davos i.e. Steel Serpent. This may actually be worth watching.

The official synopsis is below:

In the second season of Marvel’s Iron Fist, Danny Rand, The Immortal Iron Fist, and Colleen Wing set off on a new adventure as the protectors of Chinatown in NYC – where death, action and surprises await them around every corner.

Marvel’s Iron Fist will once again star Finn Jones as the titular hero, Danny Rand. The cast for the series will also include the return of Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum), and Sacha Dhawan as Danny’s childhood friend Davos.

New additions include Alice Eve who will be playing the Marvel villain Typhoid Mary. In the pages of Marvel Comics, Typhoid Mary had pyro and telekinetic powers while also a master swordsman.

Raven Metzner has replaced Scott Buck as the new showrunner for the series.

Marvel’s Iron Fist season 2 will premiere September 7 on Netflix.
